#Monday Moments with The Adventures of Katie Button by Lizzie Koch

My #Monday Moments are with The Adventures of Katie Button by Lizzie Koch.

I'm delighted to welcome Lizzie, and get to know yet another author from the Crooked Cat Cattery. She's come here to share an unusually presented short excerpt so read on to find that fabulous image, as well as the blurb for the story and some information about Lizzie.

After that, you can read my thoughts on this wonderfully entertaining story in a short review at the end of this post.

Here's a little about Lizzie first...
Lizzie's writing career started by accident. After starting her blog, she stumbled across the flash fiction circuit from which her first piece of flash fiction inspired her first novel, The Adventures of Katie Button. Flash fiction is still a huge part of Lizzie's life, fuelling inspiration as well as exploring other genres. That's the dream job.
By day, Lizzie works in a local primary school as a Higher level Teaching Assistant, spreading her joy and passion for writing, and cooking, helping to run the after school cooking club.

Lizzie is married to Ralph who she met whilst working at Harrods, one of many exciting and different jobs she has had during her career. They have a teenage son, Ethan.

Writers block is solved with chocolate, cake (or chocolate cake!) or talking with her cat, Indi. When not writing or working, Lizzie enjoys baking, blustery beach walks with hubby along the Sussex Coast, and joining her friends for the pub quiz where they tend to lose badly. But they do tend to have the best table picnic.

That's a fabulous photo, Lizzie. Definitely not taken in my neck of the woods- i.e. the north east of Scotland. Sunny warm evenings have passed us by this year! Looks like you had great fun on holiday.

What's The Adventures of Katie Button about?
What happens when your dreams collide with reality?

Katie Button doesn’t believe in soulmates. When charismatic Jack Masterson asks her out on a date, despite him being her new boss alongside his more aloof brother, James, she agrees.

But her romantic dreams about a dashing highwayman, heroic gladiator and Tudor lord are becoming more frequent. And, worryingly, they feel real. She remembers every detail, every touch, every kiss. Until she realises the man in her dreams is James.

But Katie doesn’t even like James. And what about Jack, who is whisking her away for sexy mini breaks in the here and now?

Katie knows she needs to put an end to her dreams before they ruin her life. But how?

Now you can read a tiny and graphically beautiful excerpt. (This is such a great idea I might just borrow it!- Nancy says grinning and clicking up the image programme)
My thoughts on The Adventures of Katie Button- a short review

This was a really entertaining read. From the outset, I was intrigued and wondered what kind of sub genre it was going to be - time slip, or contemporary with historical flashbacks, or what? Once started the beginning made sense, and I found the pace of the novel drew me in really quickly. The dream sequences are just perfectly done - exactly the right amount to interest the reader even more as Katie’s real life and loves become actively awkward. Katie does have a dilemma, though an enviable one when she has to choose between the brothers - Jack and James. Both men have the appeal factor, though are very different characters.  I loved the use of names in the plot. I always avoid spoilers, though I’d love to tell more of this entertaining story. This is a great summer read but also to be recommended for any time of the year! I’ll be looking out for more from Lizzie Koch.

I gave this novel  5 stars on Amazon

Slainthe!
